Attorney: John “Roger” Burk
Interested in architecture in his youth, Roger studied architecture as an undergraduate. But his desire to work more closely with people and help them plan and solve problems led to the study of law. His ardent desire and deep commitment to the needs of each client lead to the design of unique and responsive estate plans. After starting his law practice in the San Francisco Bay Area where he grew up, Roger and his wife Linda moved their family to the Roseville area to provide a better environment for raising their children.
Roger has been helping people plan their estates for over 30 years. He is a member of the State Bar of California Real Property Law Section and Trusts and Estates Section, the American Bar Association Section of Real Property, Probate and Trust Law, and the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys. Roger also has an expertise in time share resorts and has helped establish some of the most prestigious time share projects in the country. He is a Registered Resort Professional (RRP) with the American Resort Development Association (ARDA). Roger is also a member of the Planned Giving Committee of the Sutter Roseville Medical Center Foundation where he chairs the South Placer Professional Roundtable. He regularly writes articles and gives seminars and workshops on estate planning and time share issues. He is the author of numerous published articles on estate planning and time share matters and the co-author of a book, Estate Planning Basics in California: A Crash Course in Safeguarding Your Legacy.
Roger graduated from two California universities, the University of California, Berkeley with a B.A. in Architecture and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law with a Juris Doctor degree.
Roger and Linda are the parents of 6 children, three of whom were adopted in Mexico. Linda now serves as the Marketing Director in the firm. She enjoys using the Academy’s Marketing Program and participating in community events with Roger.
Roger is an active member of the community as a longtime member of the Rotary Club of Granite Bay, where he is President for 2012-2013. Roger loves to support his local High School and has completed 17 seasons filming the games for Granite Bay High School Varsity Football. He has served on several area Boards, and supported local schools by helping to establish the Eureka Schools Foundation, and the Granite Bay High Boosters Association. He has been on the Planned Giving Committee of the Sutter Roseville Medical Center Foundation for 23 years where he has chaired the South Placer Professional Round Table for 18 years. In the past, Roger volunteered as a Scoutmaster and a Youth Soccer Coach.
